CPR Classes Teach Vital First-Response Techniques
Everyone should have the opportunity to learn how to save a life through cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Did you know that if performed immediately, CPR can double or triple the chance of survival from an out of hospital cardiac arrest, and unfortunately, only approximately 40% of people who experience an out of hospital cardiac arrest get the immediate help they need before emergency responders arrive.
If you are called on to give CPR in an emergency, you will most likely be trying to save the life of someone you love: a child, a spouse, a parent or a friend. Meramec Ambulance District is dedicated to teaching CPR classes that train our community members in the proper technique for administering CPR when those emergencies arise. Whether you are a member of the general public looking to become CPR certified, you would like training on how to properly perform hands-only CPR and do not require a CPR certification, or you are a medical professional looking to become BLS certified we are able to help.
How CPR Training Improves Survival Outcomes
A common myth is that you must be CPR certified to provide CPR. You do not need to be CPR certified to provide hands-only CPR and by providing hands-only CPR you may just save someone's life. Hands-only CPR has two easy steps: call 911 and then push hard and fast in the center of the chest until emergency help arrives. Performing CPR provides life-saving assistance when every second counts. Chest compressions encourage proper heart activity to facilitate full resuscitation and stabilize the patient until emergency crews arrive. According to the American Heart Association, prompt CPR administration to a patient in cardiac arrest increases survival odds dramatically and hands-only CPR has been shown to be as effective as conventional CPR for cardiac arrest at home, at work or in public.
Get CPR-Certified and Register for Classes
Meramec Ambulance District schedules CPR courses throughout the year for the general public to become CPR certified through an American Heart Association course known as Heartsaver. The event below is an AHA Heartsaver course that is designed for anyone with little to no medical training who need first aid and/or CPR training certification. Individuals who complete the Heartsaver course become CPR-certified through the American Heart Association (AHA). Each participant receives a certification card issued by the AHA; certifications must be renewed every two years. Find the next CPR class and reserve your spot to become CPR-certified today!
Please note, we offer personalized CPR courses tailored to your individual or group's unique CPR certification needs.
